WHERE?

In: Use for enclosed spaces, cities, countries.

On: Use for surfaces, streets, certain things.

At: Use for specific locations and exact addresses

WHEN?

In: Use for months, years, seasons, parts of the day.

On: Use for days of the week and specific dates.

At: Use for specific times.

A few examples:

 

  • I'll see you ON Friday AT 9:30am AT the new coffee shop.

  • IN Canada there is no school ON Sundays.

  • The train arrives AT half past four.

  • AT this very moment, somewhere IN Canada, someone is drinking hot chocolate IN a cozy cabin.

  • I always drink coffee IN the morning, AT my desk, AT 8:02am.
